Andrew DeYoung is a writer and director who has garnered acclaim for his television and short form work. He has directed multiple episodes, spanning several seasons, of the revered Hulu series PEN15 as well as Shrill, starring Aidy Bryant. Other notable directing credits include Dave, The Other Two, Teenage Bounty Hunters, Man Seeking Woman, High Fidelity, Miracle Workers, and The Baby-Sitters Club. In the digital space, Andrew executive produced, co-created, and directed the Gotham Award–nominated Vimeo series 555, starring Kate Berlant and John Early. His shorts have been Vimeo Staff Picks six times and have amassed significant press attention and a rabid online following. Andrew most recently directed the majority of HBO’s The Chair Company, including the pilot, helping define the show’s tone and visual language. He also recently directed an episode of Widow’s Bay, produced by Hiro Murai. Previously, he directed the season one finale and three season two episodes of the HBO Max series Our Flag Means Death, executive produced by Taika Waititi, and Decameron, the Netflix series from the creator of Orange Is the New Black, set in 1348 during the Black Death. His sketch comedy Would It Kill You to Laugh was nominated for an Emmy, and his first feature film Friendship, starring Paul Rudd, Tim Robinson, and Kate Mara, sold to A24 following its premiere at TIFF.
