Andrew DeYoung is an Emmy-nominated writer and director. Most recently, he directed the majority of HBO’s The Chair Company, including the series premiere, “Life Goes By Too F**king Fast, It Really Does.,” for which he received a 2026 Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. He is currently in production on the show’s second season. He also directed two episodes of Widow’s Bay, produced by Hiro Murai. Andrew has directed multiple episodes of PEN15 and Shrill, as well as Dave, The Other Two, Teenage Bounty Hunters, Man Seeking Woman, High Fidelity, Miracle Workers, The Baby-Sitters Club, Our Flag Means Death, and Netflix’s The Decameron. He executive produced, co-created, and directed the Gotham Award–nominated Vimeo series 555, starring Kate Berlant and John Early. His sketch comedy Would It Kill You to Laugh? was Emmy-nominated, and his first feature, Friendship, starring Paul Rudd, Tim Robinson, and Kate Mara, sold to A24 following its premiere at TIFF. His work is known for a distinct comedic sensibility that blends absurdity, discomfort, and deeply human characters.
